At Acumatica Summit 2026 in Seattle, the company made it clear: the Spring 2026 release isn't an incremental update. It's a transformation of how mid-market businesses use ERP.
Over two days of keynotes, product demonstrations, and customer presentations, Acumatica unveiled 26R1—a release that shifts cloud ERP from a system of record to what they're calling a "system of intelligence." For UK manufacturers, distributors, and construction companies evaluating or using Acumatica, this release changes the conversation about what modern ERP can actually do.
The beta is available now. General availability is scheduled for early Spring 2026. Here's what you need to know.
The Strategic Shift: From Recording to Intelligence
Before diving into specific features, it's worth understanding the framework driving this release.
Ali Jani, Acumatica's Chief Product Officer (transitioning after 15 years of building the platform's foundation), opened Day 2 of Summit with a clear statement: "For decades, ERP has been known as a system of record. We hired people, we fed the machine with transactions. The machine gave you reports. Maybe what happened last month. Were we profitable or not? That's wonderful. But ERP can be so much more."
Acumatica is reshaping ERP around three fundamental shifts:
1. From Reactive to Proactive
Instead of pulling reports to see what happened, the system alerts you to opportunities and risks before they materialise. Anomaly detection, predictive insights, and assistive workflows move ERP from historical analysis to forward-looking action.
2. From Automation to Autonomy
Traditional automation executes scripted steps. Autonomous systems target objectives. "Ship this order on time." "Protect this margin." "Resolve this customer issue." The difference is profound—one follows instructions, the other achieves outcomes.
3. From System of Record to System of Intelligence
The goal isn't just to document what happened. It's to help every person in your organisation make faster, better decisions with less effort.
26R1 delivers on all three shifts. But the foundation matters: as Miten Mehta, Chief Engineering Officer, emphasised at Summit, "Intelligence requires integrity. You can't have an AI strategy if your data hallucinates. We're building the system that fuels our AI. It has to be grounded on truth, not noise."
That commitment to data governance, ensuring information enters the system clean, not fixing it later, sets Acumatica apart from competitors bolting AI onto legacy architectures.
What's New in Acumatica 2026 R1
Insight Excel: Financial Reporting Meets Excel Flexibility
One of the announcements at Summit was Insight Excel—a capability that finally bridges the gap between ERP financial reporting and the flexibility finance teams actually need.
Here's how it works: With a single click, your financial reports and all their layouts, formulas, and hierarchies flow directly into Excel. The data is live. The formatting is preserved. And now you have the full power of Excel to analyse, model, and present without rebuilding everything from scratch.
For finance teams that have spent years exporting data, reformatting spreadsheets, and manually reconciling numbers, this is genuinely transformative. No more choosing between "what the ERP can do" and “what we actually need to show the board.” Insight Excel will be available in 26R1.
Acumatica Assistant: Your Digital Coworker
AI assistants have become ubiquitous in consumer technology. 26R1 brings that same intuitive interaction to business systems—but designed specifically for ERP. Acumatica Assistant allows users to ask natural language questions and get immediate, contextual answers:
🤖 "Show me the top five most profitable items"
🤖 "What's the status of sales order 8889?"
🤖 "Do I have inventory for this laptop in the retail warehouse?"
🤖 "Give me the details of the last sales order involving Acer laptops"
During the Summit demonstration, Miten Mehta showed how different roles—warehouse managers, salespeople, financial controllers, customer service agents—could all use the Assistant for their specific needs. No training required. No navigating through menus. Just natural conversation.
But it goes deeper than simple queries. The Assistant can help you complete tasks, create records, and retrieve information across modules. all through the same conversational interface. For businesses where system adoption is constrained by complexity, Acumatica Assistant fundamentally lowers the barrier to extracting value from your ERP.
The Assistant launches with 26R1, with ongoing enhancements planned for subsequent releases.
AI Document Management: Finding What You Need, When You Need It
Every organisation has the same problem: documents scattered across drives, email, and legacy folders. Finding what you need when you need it becomes a game of institutional memory and optimistic search terms.
26R1 introduces AI-powered document management that solves this. Upload, search, view, and retrieve all your documents in one place. The AI auto-organises and auto-tags content, so you can actually find things without remembering exactly what you called them or where you saved them three years ago.
For construction companies managing drawings, specifications, contracts, and change orders across dozens of concurrent projects, this capability alone justifies the upgrade.
Modern Customer Portal with AI Self-Service
Customer portals have traditionally been functional but uninspiring—basic order tracking, invoice downloads, and support ticket submission through clunky interfaces that feel a decade behind consumer expectations. The 26R1 Modern Portal changes that equation entirely.
💠 Unified Login: One login for your Acumatica instance, portal access, and community. No more juggling multiple passwords.
💠 In-Product Messaging: Communication lives inside the system. Maintenance notifications, product announcements, surveys—all delivered where you're already working, not buried in email.
💠 AI-Powered Self-Service: Customers can use AI agents to get answers, track orders, and resolve issues without waiting for your team. When the conversation requires human attention, it escalates seamlessly within the same interface.
💠 Integrated Payments: Acumatica Payments integration makes it simple for customers to pay invoices directly through the portal.
For businesses where customer experience drives retention and repeat business, the Modern Portal transforms how you interact with clients. And because the same technology powers your internal and external communications, you're delivering the same intelligent experience to your team and your customers.
MCP Server: Connect Your ERP to Any AI Application
This announcement flew under the radar for many Summit attendees, but it represents one of the most significant architectural decisions Acumatica has made.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a universal connector that allows AI applications—ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or any other MCP-compatible tool—to securely access your Acumatica data.
During the Day 2 keynote, Miten Mehta demonstrated this live. He pulled out his phone, opened Claude (not Acumatica), and asked: "Review my next service appointment and assess the risks based on stock availability and weather conditions."
Behind the scenes, Claude connected to Acumatica through MCP Server, retrieved the appointment details, checked inventory status, pulled weather data from another source, and responded with a risk assessment: insufficient materials, severe weather conditions, recommendation to reschedule or expedite procurement.
This matters because it means your ERP data isn't locked inside your ERP. You can use the AI tools you prefer, on mobile or desktop, and still access the information you need without switching contexts. MCP Server support is part of the 26R1 roadmap, with ongoing development to expand capabilities.
Industry-Specific Innovations in 26R1
Beyond platform-level enhancements, 26R1 delivers targeted capabilities for manufacturing, distribution, and construction.
For Manufacturing & Distribution
AI Cross-Sell Assistant
Manually maintaining cross-sell recommendations is time-consuming and error-prone. The AI Cross-Sell Assistant analyses your sales history, identifies the most relevant items to sell together, ranks them by probability, and updates suggestions automatically. Your newest sales rep can recommend the right accessories with the same confidence as your most experienced team member.
Amazon Sales Profitability Dashboard
Many distributors sell successfully through Amazon. Fewer know whether they're actually making money doing it. The new dashboard consolidates sales, costs, fees, refunds, and margin in one place—broken down by fulfilment type and time period. No more exporting thousands of fee line items into Excel to calculate true profitability.
Order Orchestration Assistant
Orders arrive through EDI, ecommerce, and phone calls. Each defaults to a warehouse that may not have inventory. Without orchestration, teams spend hours manually reassigning orders or deal with backorders that delay shipments. The Order Orchestration Assistant evaluates hundreds of orders in seconds, applies your business rules, and selects the optimal fulfilment path based on inventory, proximity, and priorities.
Shop Floor Kiosk
Traditional shop floor data entry slows production and frustrates operators who didn't come to work to do admin. The Shop Floor Kiosk makes it fast and intuitive for operators to capture labour and materials without friction. Behind the scenes, the system updates production orders in real time, giving managers accurate visibility and the business better costing and scheduling data.
For Construction & Professional Services
Simplified Project and Branch Financials
This was the community's #1 voted feature request—and Acumatica delivered it for 26R1. Multi-branch construction organisations can now handle project-driven branches with flexible assignment (header or line level) and automatic validation to prevent mismatches. Data entry becomes simpler. Financial controls become stronger.
Project Status Dashboard with AI Anomaly Detection
The Modern UI powers a 360-degree project view with easy access to critical information—tasks, budgets, cost projections, subcontracts. AI Studio anomaly detection highlights change orders or cost variances that require attention, with the ability to annotate and track follow-up directly in the system.
Construction Document Management
Documents are organised in a definable folder structure tailored to your business. Tag-based search and version control mean you can find and check out documents without the chaos of email attachments and shared drives. For project teams working across office and field, this transforms daily operations.
Next-Generation Field Service
The calendar board has been reimagined using Modern UI—easy navigation, map views, filtering, and sorting that simplifies a service dispatcher's day. Early customer feedback confirms this makes scheduling faster and reduces errors.
Why 26R1 Matters for UK Businesses
For UK manufacturers, distributors, and construction companies, this release addresses specific operational and strategic needs:
Visibility Without Complexity
The Modern UI, Insight Excel, and AI Assistant all serve the same goal: giving you the information you need without navigating complexity. For businesses where ERP adoption has been constrained by system usability, 26R1 removes barriers.
Control and Compliance
AI-powered anomaly detection, document management, and project-level financial controls strengthen governance—a priority for UK businesses managing risk-conscious growth.
Scalability Without Re-Implementation
Cloud-native architecture, consumption-based licensing, and modular capabilities mean 26R1 grows with your business. Add users, locations, or modules without ripping and replacing.
Partnership, Not Vendor Lock-In
MCP Server integration ensures your data isn't locked inside Acumatica. Use the AI tools you prefer. Connect with the applications your business needs. Maintain control over your technology ecosystem.
What This Means If You're Evaluating ERP Right Now
If you're in the consideration stage of ERP selection, the 26R1 release reinforces several important points:
⓵ Modern ERP is fundamentally different from legacy systems. The gap between cloud-native, AI-first platforms and retrofitted legacy software is no longer a matter of features. It's a matter of architecture and capability. Systems built on 20-year-old foundations can't deliver what 26R1 demonstrates.
⓶ Acumatica's approach to AI is pragmatic, not speculative. This isn't vaporware or prototypes. The features announced at Summit are launching in Spring 2026, with beta access available now. The 12 hackathon teams that built working AI solutions in 24 hours using AI Studio prove the capability is real.
⓷ Community-driven development produces better software. Simplified project and branch financials made it into 26R1 because customers voted for it. The product team made 100+ site visits last year to understand how you actually work. That approach means the system evolves to meet your needs—not drift further from them.
If you're comparing ERP vendors right now, ask them specifically about their AI roadmap, their customer community, and how they prioritise feature development. The answers will be revealing.
